Last
night the votes poured in to the national election
headquarters of the United States of America. Many pro-life,
anti-alternative lifestyle, Bible-believing citizens hoped
John McCain would be elected. They hoped he, and his born
again, Pentecostal running mate, Sarah Palin, would pull out
a victory, and SAVE the nation from the liberal
beliefs of Barak Obama and the Democratic Party. They
prayed. They waited. They prayed some more. Eventually,
however, they realized their efforts had met with defeat. A
stark depression embraced the emotions of some McCain
supporters. An overwhelming sense of doom could be seen in
their faces as they realized the ramifications of such a
victory by the Democratic Party. Others lamented poor
campaigning strategies as the downfall of the Republican
ticket. Many slammed the previous Republican leaders for
their apparent lack of true conservative leadership and
acumen. The thought of a very liberal minded president
appointing three or four Supreme Court Justices during his
term rocked the optimism of the most stalwart Republican
supporters. Dismal thoughts...but what should our focus be?!
Just
about EVERY Christ follower I know is concerned about what
will happen now (read Phil. 4:6). At first, I must admit, I
felt something akin to sadness upon learning that Barak
Obama had won the election. Why? You might ask? Because, his
philosophies and viewpoints are very different from Biblical
standards. I know he will have such enormous power to
make decisions that could adversely affect Christianity in
America. I realize he will empower others who share his
ideals. He will likely enable policies that could jeopardize
many concerns political conservatives hold dear. His future
decisions could change the very face of this great nation.
It is a sobering reflection considering the outcome of this
2008 Presidential Election. But the Holy Spirit reminded me
this morning...GOD IS IN CONTROL! The fact that He allows
ANY man or woman to be in leadership testifies to that
undeniable TRUTH! Barak Obama has been referred to by some
as the "messiah". The evidence of desperate people
wanting SOMEONE to SAVE them! ONLY JESUS is MESSIAH! ONLY
HE CAN SAVE THIS NATION!11
“ You are worthy, O Lord,[a] To
receive glory and honor and power; For You created all
things, And by Your will they exist[b]
and were created.” Revelation 4:11 (NKJV)
So...what
should we as Christ followers do? Should we prepare to
somehow FIGHT back? Should we murmur about Barak Obama's
lack of experience? Should we constantly hash and re-hash
the glaringly obvious misrepresentations the Obama campaign
has made through out the last year? Should we gripe and
complain, whine and cry? Perhaps delving deeper into Barak
Obama's past would reveal something which would lead to his
eventual impeachment?! We have to do SOMETHING! Right!? YES!
We MUST do SOMETHING! We must PRAY for Barak Obama, and everyone
who is connected with his party! 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, 14
"if My people who are called by My name will humble
themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their
wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin and heal their land." We MUST be
DISTINGUISHED by an EXCELLENT SPIRIT - The HOLY SPIRIT!
(Daniel 6:3 NKJV) We must not allow ourselves to
become bitter and hateful. We MUST follow the example of
CHRIST in the New Testament. Though He did not fall in line
with ANY rules or sanctions that contradicted the
sovereignty of God, He did conduct Himself according
to the Spirit of God. Yes, He did speak out against the
leaders of the day. He proclaimed righteousness through
right relationship with Him, and ultimately, God the Father.
He protected the sanctity of TRUE LIFE & LIBERTY in the
SPIRIT. He did urge those who would listen, to follow
Him...to lay down their earthly lives, and embrace HIS
heavenly, SPIRITUAL LIFE! Jesus was definitely not
politically correct...HE WAS SPIRITUALLY CORRECT IN LOVE!
God is calling His true worshippers...the disciples of Jesus
Christ to STAND UP. He is calling us to be vigilant. He is
setting us apart from the things and ways of this evil
world. He is calling Daniels to be faithful to Him, in spite
of the Babylonian state of the great nation God gave us!
Take time this week to read about Daniel. See how he
persevered while in less than ideal surroundings. Notice how
he interacted with the leaders of the day. He did not waste
his time in bitterness and depression. HE FOCUSED on GOD! He
was not hoping for a man or woman to save him, or to CHANGE
ANYTHING! He was waiting on the Lord! He was about honoring
GOD above man...AT ALL COST! May we be about that! May we as
the Body of Christ grow stronger during the days ahead! May
we focus MORE on JESUS than the political mechanisms of
society! May we be world changers through the BLOOD of the
LAMB, and the power of our testimony in Christ! May we not
be entangled with the world, but be independent of it! May
our dependence be FULLY upon the Lord Jesus Christ! We who
truly follow Christ (not politics), KNOW that the nation we
LIVE in is NOT an Obama nation...it is a NATION UNDER GOD!

LOVE...and being obedient to the Lord Jesus according to His
Holy Spirit!
Colossians
